What if just one hour of your time could mean a lifetime for someone else?
Right now, somewhere here in Texas, a child is fighting cancer, a mother is facing a difficult childbirth, or a neighbor injured in an accident is waiting on something only another person can give. That something is blood — and the need never stops.
At Carter BloodCare, our mission is simple but powerful: we save lives by making transfusion possible. And that mission runs 24/7. While many people think blood is only needed during major disasters, the truth is that everyday emergencies — car accidents, surgeries, cancer treatments — create a constant demand.
A few months ago, a 17‑year‑old high school athlete from Waco — Marcus — collapsed during football practice. A rare heart condition sent him into emergency surgery. He needed six units of blood that night. Six strangers, each giving just an hour of their time, helped save his life.
Marcus recovered. His teammates now donate together twice a year. One crisis turned into a culture of giving — and that’s the kind of ripple effect businesses can spark too.
When companies host blood drives or encourage employees to donate, they’re not just supporting a cause — they’re strengthening the communities they serve. And in Texas, community isn’t a buzzword. It’s a responsibility.
Here’s what your support fuels:
Up to three lives saved per donation
Patients with sickle cell disease
Open‑heart surgeries and organ transplants
Cancer treatments
Premature and unborn babies who rely on O‑negative donors
And yes — if you’re O‑negative, you’re basically the Beyoncé of blood types. Everyone wants you.
Carter BloodCare hosts 25 to 30 blood drives every single day across North, Central, and East Texas. To support more than 200 healthcare partners, we need 1,500 donors every day.
That’s a big number — but Texans have never been intimidated by big numbers. We build stadiums the size of small cities and call it “Friday night.”
From start to finish, donating takes about one hour. And if someone donates once every three months, they can help save up to 12 local patients in a single year.
Imagine the impact if your entire company participated. Imagine the impact if every business in this room did.
In Texas, donors can start at 16 with parental consent, and there’s no upper age limit. If someone is healthy, weighs at least 110 pounds, and feels well on donation day — they can save lives.
And yes, we provide snacks. Good ones. Some people say they donate for the snacks. We don’t judge — we encourage.
Whether you host a drive, promote donation days, or simply share the message, your organization can play a direct role in saving lives. It’s one of the most meaningful, measurable, and community‑centered contributions a business can make.
